The Story Behind Baba Booey

Back in the days when Gary Dell’Abate of The Howard Stern Show was known simply as Gary, Quick Draw McGraw (the cartoon character) is already calling someone Baba Booey. That’s what Quick Draw calls his sidekick who’s real name is Baba Looey.
That’s also the reason why Gary is today known as Baba Booey. In 1989, Gary discussed his interest in buying a Quick Draw McGraw animation cel. During the course of that discussion, he referred to Baba Looey as Baba Booey which is not actually wrong as Quick Draw calls his sidekick Baba Boy which tends to sound like Baba Booey.
After said “misstatement”, his fellow cast of the show started making fun of him for being interested in an animation cel when he does not even know the real name of the characters which is not entirely true.
