Sunday’s Academy Award’s gave its nod to the performance of Heath Ledger as Joker in the movie ‘The Dark Knight’. It was an emotional moment on the said show the moment the name of the late actor was mentioned. The family of the late actor accepted the actor’s posthumous Oscar for Best Supporting. The actor’s mother said that they are choosing to celebrate and to be happy for what the actor has achieved. The late actor’s mother was accompanied by the actor’s father, Kim Ledger, and his sister Kate on the stage of the Hollywood’s Kodak Theater. The actor’s sister also said that the daughter of the actor will set to inherit the Oscar the moment the girl turns 18. She added that they proudly accept the award in behalf of the actor’s beautiful Matilda.

When Kim was asked whether the daughter of Heath knows the noise surrounding the actor’s Oscar, Kim told the reporters that the mom of the child, actress Michelle Williams keep the child closeted in a nice way. The mother of the actor mentioned the striking resemblance between the child and the actor. The performance of the actor as Joker on the Batman movie has earned a number of critical and positive reviews. And early on the awards season, the actor managed to win the Best Supporting Actor award. And coming into the Oscars, the actor was also considered as the favorite to take home the Oscars for Best Supporting Actor.

His performance netted a number of awards including the Critics Choice, the Golden Globe and the Screen Actors Guild awards. Heath Ledger was found dead in a New York apartment on January 22, 2008. It was said that the actor died of prescription drug overdose.
