Once, Oprah’s name has been widely used by scammers offering Acai Berry Pills claiming that the pills can actually help lose weight. The scammers behind the Acai Berry has been using the name of the famous talk show host after she featured the same product (but not specifically the brand) in one of her episodes. After this abuse of the talk queen’s name, another scam is reportedly spreading through email after some millions asked about if Oprah has a raffle and the winner would be winning $ 1 million. Immediately the talk show producers gave warnings over this scam and asked for people to ignore emails with similar content. An clarification was also been sent out clearing the name of Oprah and that the talk show host has nothing to do with the said emails.

“Please note that The Oprah Winfrey Show and Harpo Productions are not sponsors nor do we have any involvement whatsoever with this email notification,” Oprah’s site clarified.

The FBI is investigating on this matter. Said agency also vehemently requested those who have received such email to not give in to the requests of the senders. The FBI also asks those fans and other people who received this email to report to them as they are tracking down the person or persons involved in this scam.

Previous scams have been compared to this Oprah Millionaire Raffle scam and authorities find out a similar tactics: scammers ask for the personal identity of the supposed contestant who just received emails. Sample below, excerpted from one of the emails:

These scammers often get emails through random selection at different databases they hack. Often, they got the emails from subscription to products and newsletters.
