Hollywood is planning to do a movie on the life story of Frank Sinatra, and the accomplished Martin Scorsese will direct the film. Scorsese is the famed director of the award-winning film, ‘The Departed’ that starred Di Caprio. The movie to be produced by Universal Pictures and Mandalay Pictures will be titled ‘Sinatra’.

According to the producers of this planned movie, this proposed movie based on the life of the singer is not your conventional biopic. This will not tackle the usual story that will start from cradle to the grave, which means that this will not be linear. This was revealed by the President of Mandalay Pictures, Cathy Shulman. The producers of the movie are looking at collage, and the movie will feel like an album in itself. She added that the movie will serve as a collection of many moments and many impressions about his life and they expect and hope that they can tell a story from that, and in the process present full themes.

So if the director has been chosen for the project, then the next question that can be asked by fans and observers alike is this- “who is set to play Sinatra”? This is a good question and right now many are still talking and speculation as to who can best play the part. There have been some reports that the camp of Scorsese wants to the services of Leonardo DiCaprio. Dicaprio has made three films with Scorsese including ‘The Departed’. But if the studio behind the film is to be followed, then they want Johnny Depp to play the said role. Vocals should not come as an issue since the movie will use the original recordings of Sinatra. And here is another name that is being mentioned- Justin Timberlake. Again, this is all about ‘wait and see’. Oscar-nominated screenwriter Phil Alden Robinson is writing the screenplay, and right now he is researching and focusing on more than 30,000 pages of materials about Sinatra. The studio tool two years to get the rights for the singer’s life and music.
