Joaquin Phoenix says goodbye to acting

Joaquin Phoenix is saying goodbye to Hollywood and to acting. Well, the actor is not really leaving the whole entertainment scene, based on the reports the actor will be leaving acting for good and will focus next on music. The message of leaving the acting industry was shown to the world when the actor attended the premier Saturday night for his latest film, ‘Two Lover’. The words ‘Good Bye’ were written on the actor’s knuckles during the premiere. His fashion statement on the red carpet only underlined the announcement that he made last week, that indeed he is giving up movies.
For the actor, this is all about moving on and rediscovering something else. This was what the actor said in an interview with the Associated Press Television news before Saturday’s American Film Institute festival. The festival also premiered ‘Che’ the movie that stars Benicio Del Toro. He added that ‘Two Lovers’ will be his last film. Just last Friday his publicist said that the actor is intended to focus on his music. The actor first floated the news to ‘Extra’ early last week at the fundraiser that was conducted in San Francisco. Joaquin Phoenix then abruptly ended the interview after the reporter wondered whether the actor was only joking in his bid to drop acting in favor of music. The actor can play his own musical instrument and this was honed when he played the country legend Johnny Cash in the movie ‘Walk the Line’ with Reese Witherspoon. His portrayal earned him an Academy Award nomination. It was learned as well that the actor has been directing music videos for years now. For the actor, his transfer will be like a transfer to greener pastures. His last movie also stars Gwyneth Paltrow and Vinessa Shaw and the movie is directed by James Gray.
