Michael Crichton dies at 66
Michael Crichton, the author of the million-selling author of thrillers like ‘Jurassic Park’, ‘Timeline’ and the ‘Andromeda Strain’ has died of cancer. This was revealed by his family. The author died Tuesday in Los Angeles at the age of 66 after privately battling cancer.
In a statement, the family of the author said that he served as an inspiration to students of all ages and thru his work he has challenged many scientists in many fields and also illuminated the mysteries of the world in a way we could all understand. Michael Crichton is a known experimenter and popularizes of stories of disaster and systematic breakdown, like the novel ‘The Andromeda Strain’ or the dinosaurs on the loose in the ‘Jurassic Park’. His book became hits and instant bestsellers and his books have been adopted as well by Hollywood studios, which include the ‘Jurassic Park, the ‘Rising Sun’ and ‘Disclosure’. The author also directed and wrote his own movie; ‘The Great Train Robbery’ and he also co-wrote the Hollywood blockbuster ‘Twister’. He is also known for the award-winning TV hospital series ‘ER’ and for his work on dinosaurs; a dinosaur was even named after him, Crichton’s ankylosaur.
For Steven Spielberg, the author’s talent has even out scaled even his dinosaurs of the ‘Jurassic Park. Spielberg is a friend of Crichton for 40 years. According to Spielberg, the author was greatest at blending science with big theatrical concepts, and this is what gave the credibility of dinosaurs again roaming the earth.
