Jane Fonda back on Broadway
Broadway is waiting for Jane Fonda. To be exact, the activist, author and exercise guru will be back on Broadway in 2009. This comes after an absence of more than four decades. Jane Fonda is active in many social causes, and she now lives in Atlanta, Georgia. The actress and a known advocate of many causes will star in ’33 Variations’ and this is a play created by Moises Kaufman about the present day musicologist to be played by the actress and her study of Beethoven’s fascination with a particular piece of music. The play will be directed by Kaufman and the production will open this winter. The announcement was made by the producer of the show, David Binder.
In a statement, the actress said that she was excited on this development and she added that she can’t wait to get back on stage and act. Jane Fonda is an experienced and an accomplished actress on her own right. She won her Oscars for ‘Klute’ and ‘Coming Home’. her resume also includes appearance on films ‘On Golden Pond’, ‘Nine to Five’, ‘Julia’, Fun with Dick and Jane’, ‘Barbarella’, ‘Barefoot in the Park’, ‘Cat Ballou’ and ‘They Shoot Horse, Don’t They?’ the actress is known for her voices on Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention, an organization that she founded in 1995. Aside from her work in the movies, Fonda also produced nearly two dozen exercises videos and also produced her autobiography called ‘My Life So Far’ and this was a best-seller. The new Broadway play that will also star Jane Fonda had its world premiere at the Arena Stage in Washington in 2007. And for this year, the premiere was held at the La Jolla Playhouse in California. Fonda made her debut on Broadway in the comedy ‘The Fun Couple’.
