Highschool Musical takes the top again

Moviegoers were made to repeat the senior year. For the second straight weekend, Disney’s Highschool Musical 3 took the seat on top of the box office and earned around $15 million. The estimate was provided by the studio. The movie that stars Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens and this served as the sequel to the highly successful Disney Channel TV movies, Highschool Musical. With the weekend’s figure, the total for the movie was hiked to $61.8 million for ten days.
A new number 2 opened last weekend and this was the Weinstein Co. comedy called ‘Zack and Miri Make a Porno’ and these movie stars Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks as friends who do a skin flick to dig themselves out of debt. The horror movie that topped and took second spot last week slipped to third for the week, as the ‘Saw V’ took home another $10.1 million and thus lift its 10 day total to $45.8 million. Clint Eastwood and Angelina Jolie’s movie took home $9.4 million and finished at No. 4. The movie tells the story of a single mother that was victimized by the police who botched the investigation into her missing son. Other movies in the Top 10 include The Haunting of Molly Harvey, Beverly Hills Chihuahua, The Secret Life of the Bees, Max Payne, Eagle Eye and Pride and Glory. The new movie from the ex-husband of Madonna failed at the box office and the movie was on for a limited release. The movie that stars Gerard Butler and Thandie Newton only finished with $1.8 million and was out of the Top 10 for the week. Madonna and Guy Ritchie announced their separation last month. After the last week surge by Hollywood led by Highschool Musical, the revenues for this week have plunged.
