Palin makes a huge impact on SNL

For the past weeks, the impersonation of Sarah Palin by Tina Fey has been doing great things for the Saturday Night Live. But when the real Sarah Palin made her appearance on the show, the real Palin put the show on top of the ratings game and in fact this netted the show its highest ratings in 14 years. This was for last Saturday’s episode that was hosted by Josh Brolin. The show featured the Alaskan governor appearing as herself in the opening sketch of the show alongside executive producer Lorne Michaels, Alec Baldwin, Mark Wahlberg and of course, Tina Fey. The Republican vice-presidential candidate also appeared during the ‘Weekend Live’ segment.
The show on Saturday netted the show an average 10.7 rating/24 share in the 56 metered markets and this figure was based on the preliminary estimates that were released by Nielsen Media Research. This figure will then make the show as the highest rated show for SNL since March 12, 1994. This was the time when the show hosted Olympic skater Nancy Kerrigan and Aretha Franklin. The same figures will make the SNL the third highest show for last week going toe to toe with ‘Dancing with the Stars’ of ABC and ‘CSI’ of CBS. The opening of the show featured the real Palin speaking to the executive producer of the show while Tina Fey was in front of the studio audience. On the said opening skit, Palin tried to get the producer to agree to her idea of the skit that was based on ’30 Rock. But the producer did not agree adding that nobody watches the show. She was also introduced to Alec Baldwin, one of the stars from the said show. On the latter part of the show, the candidate appeared on the set together with Seth Myers and Amy Poehler.
