Alicia Keys leads nominees
The American Music Awards is set to be opened once again. And for this year, singer Alicia Keys will lead the nominees. Alicia Keys is nominated for five American Music Awards and the most for any artist for this year. The singer has been a multi-awarded singer for many years now and many music award giving bodies have given awards to this talented singer. Coldplay is nominated as well. In fact the band comes in second to Alicia Keys in terms of the number of nominations received.
Coldplay and the veteran rockers Eagles are nominated with four nominations each. Rapper and R&B singers followed these two rock bands, as rap superstar Lil Wayne and the hit-maker Chris Brown was given three nods each for the American Music Awards. These five acts are all nominated for the plum, ‘Artist of the Year’. The American Music Awards will be aired live on November 23 this year from the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. Jimmy Kimmel is expected to host the show once again. The list of nominees for this year’s American Music Awards was announced by Jimmy Kimmel and recording artists Julianne Hough and Jesse McCartney. The announcement of the nominees was made from the Beverly Hills Hotel.
The announcement of the nominees was paired as well with the announcement of the expected performers in the coming show. Expected performers on the show include Rihanna, Ne-Yo, the Pussycat Dolls and the New Kids on the Block. Previously named performers include Jonas Brothers and Pink. Additional presenters for the show will be announced in the coming weeks. Though the show has some scripted parts, there will be some unscripted parts of the show and this part is of the source of some entertainment. For example, Joe Jonas slipped during the group’s performance last year.
