Palin and Fey on SNL?
With the popularity of the comedic timing and the similarity between Sarah Palin and Tina Fey rising by the day, it seems that the meeting of the two personalities is only a matter of time. Now this can be a reality since there are plans to unite the two on Saturday Night Live. The real Sarah Palin will be coming to SNL to meet her impersonator, Tina Fey. If this will push thru, then ratings and audience share for the show will shoot up once again.
According to the longtime executive producer of the show, the team-up of Sarah Palin and Tina Fey will all be for good time. Saturday Night Live has been rejuvenated this fall thanks to the skits made by Fey as the vice presidential candidate. There have been talks for the past few weeks if indeed the candidate will also make an appearance on the show. The executive producer of the show added that he wasn’t actively seeking Palin but the camp of McCain called up after the first skit and their response was positive. This was the first skit when Tina Fey and Amy Poehler as Hillary Clinton appeared and this was for the show’s premiere. But the future appearance of the vice presidential candidate on the show is not yet certain of course since the show has a long history of political walk-ons. In fact Barack Obama cancelled his appearance on the last minute. But if Sarah Palin is to be asked, she is open to that suggestion and she’d love to appear opposite Fey on the show. The candidate added that Fey is talented and it would be fun to meet her in person and gave her new material.
The first impersonation and the skit of Fey was successful and netted many laughs thanks primarily to the capability of Fey to adopt the Palin accent. In the same skit, she described global warming as God’s way of hugging us closer.
