No Project Runway on Lifetime
The word is final; and there will be no Project Runway on the Lifetime TV channel or any other spin off of the hit TV show. This was known after the court issued a temporary injunction that effectively blocks the move to the Lifetime TV station. The preliminary injunction was ordered by the New York Supreme Court Justice Richard Lowe and this was in a response to the lawsuit that was filed by the NBC Universal against the Weinstein Co. The company is the one that produces the hit show Project Runway as hosted by Heidi Klum. NBC Universal is the one that originally airs the hit TV show on its Bravo Channel.
The lawsuit was forwarded when it was learned that the production company made a reported $150 million agreement with the Lifetime station just to host the show. The order that was released by court simply means that Weinstein cannot deliver Project Runway on its station and at the same time prevents the production company from making a spin-off out of the hit show. NBC Universal argued that Weinstein violated the company’s first right of refusal for the show. Weinstein on the other hand mentioned that the company is keen on appealing the decision and this was applauded by NBC Universal. For the part of Lifetime, it said that it was disappointed with the decision and added that it will pursue all measures in order to uphold the agreement with Weinstein in order to show the sixth season of the hit fashion show. The decision that was given by the judge also ensures that Lifetime and Weinstein cannot in any way promote market or air Project Runway. The parties involved in the lawsuit are ordered to return to court on October 15. Currently the show is in production and will start airing on Lifetime in January.
