Equus of Daniel Radcliffe opens in Broadway
Equus, the play that stars the actor from Harry Potter opens in Broadway. But all the fuss about the nude scene of Daniel Radcliffe was not an issue for those who came to watch the play’s opening on Broadway. People who watched the play doesn’t mind having a nude scene in the play, as long as the scene is in the play, in the story, and necessary then the nude scene should be right. When this was first shown in Europe, the actor that played Harry Potter gained positive reviews for his performance. His performance in this Tony-winning play as a disturbed teenager who blinds six horses requires him to strip down earned for the actor rave reviews.
This act was a big departure from his G-rated image that was showcased on the Harry Potter series. Daniel Radcliffe starts opposite Tony winner Richard Griffiths who plays as his character’s psychiatrists for the Broadway and London production. The Equus play’s opening night at Broadway attracted many big names from the industry. Some of the bigger draws that made their way to Broadway include Judith Light, Glenn Close, Dominic Cooper, Haley Joel Osment and James Lipton. Lipton is the host of Bravo’s ‘Inside the Actor’s Studio. Positive reviews defined the showing of the play in US soil. The actor highlights the surmounting pain and the agony behind the character that he plays thru the confessional monologues, thru the orgasmic horseback ride, the humiliation of his first failed sexual experience and of course the now infamous climax where he takes the metal spike and the blinds the horses. The horses in the play were played by six men in hoof masks and platform horseshoes and they are in engaging percussive choreography. Others see that the performance of Richard Griffith was the weakest in the play. The actor was a Tony Award winner.
