Depp to be the face of Walt Disney Studios
Johnny Depp is fast becoming the favorite of Walt Disney Studios. This is the new observation now after the actor has been tapped to lead the future movies planned by the studio. The actor is set to preside the party in the Tim Burton’s movie ‘Alice in Wonderland’ and he will play the Mad Hatter and the actor is set to play Tonto as well in the movie ‘The Lone Ranger’. This movie is set to be produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. The announcement was made by the studio Wednesday at a studio presentation. Aside from these developments, it was announced as well that the fourth installment in the highly successful ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ is in the works as well.
For the ‘Alice in Wonderland’ movie, Tim Burton will have a reunion with Depp. The two last worked on the movie ‘Edward Scissorhands and also collaborated for the hit ‘Sweeney Todd’. The collaboration between the director and the actor is one of the longest director-actor partnerships in the industry. When it was announced that the movie will be made with Tim Burton, it was believed that Depp was the leading candidate for the character. The actor has been practiced wearing the hat, thanks to his stint at the movie ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’. Mia Wasikowska of Australia will play the leading role. She was last seen HBO’s ‘In Treatment’. Matt Lucas on the other hand will play the dual roles Tweedledum and Tweedledee. For the Lone Ranger movie, the actor is set to be partnered with Bruckheimer. The director is the one who produced the Caribbean franchise. Tonto is the Native American partner of Lone Ranger. His casting may cause some issues with the Native American groups out there. This movie is set to be written by Tedd Elliot and Terry Rossio.
