Simpsons wins cartoon Emmy
The Simpsons once again flexed its creative muscle in the US television’s highest honor for the primetime cartoon by winning the Creative Arts Emmy Awards. The award that was given to the cartoon show extends its winning ways. The show was named as the best half-hour animated show. The animated show that stars Homer, Bart, Lisa and Marge is being aired on the News Corp Ltd and owned by Fox Network. Aside from the awards for the best half-hour animated show, the other creative awards that were given during the 3 ½ -hour presentation include categories in make-up, costumes, sound editing and art direction.
The ceremony is actually a prelude to the more high profile and the primetime Emmys that will be aired on September 21. This ceremony will be aired on cable TV next week. The most awarded show for the evening was the show on HBO, the historical mini-series ‘John Adams’. This mini-series took home eight trophies and that’s half of the number of awards that were given Saturday night. The accolades that were received by the show continue the winning streak of HBO on Emmys. The other winner for the night is the critically acclaimed new TV drama called ‘Mad Men’. The show is a period piece that is set in the advertising industry of the New York Madison Avenue. The show was the second most awarded show for the night and this series came home with four awards.
Even the controversial ‘South Park’ managed to get the attention of Emmy voters as they saluted the satirical cartoon that starred comedian Sarah Silverman. It was Silverman as well and the other four writers who received the awards for the song ‘I’m F—ing Matt Damon. This song was an instant hit on the internet when this as first aired on ABC’s ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’.
