Will Dark Knight gets an Oscar?
Will the Dark Knight proved as successful on the awards show? Well that can be seen come awards time if indeed the movie can make headway on the awards show. But if the last movie to have hit more than half a billion is to be followed, then the movie may be on to Award’s gold. Titanic sailed away with most of the awards when the movie was in contention for the Oscars. And the Dark Knight that stars the late Heath Ledger as Joker is now the second-highest grossing movie of all time.
The movie may be a critically-acclaimed film in the market but the genre picture is expected to be a tough sell to the voters at the Academy Awards, well except for the performance as delivered by Heath Ledger. And now that the awards show is fast-approaching and when most studios are introducing their bets, the chances of Heath Ledger seems to be solid. The role of a maniacal bad guy was a perfect fit for the late actor. In fact the role that was played by Heath Ledger was considered as one of the best villains in the history of Hollywood. The actor died of an accidental prescription drug overdose. It is expected that the movie will score well on the technical categories but for the other key and important awards, the chances of the movie are slim.
Talks about the Oscars are beginning to shape up even if it is still six months off. But right now, the awards season is starting to pick up with the many awards shows giving their annual awards. The Toronto International Film Festival, the Venice Film Festival and the Telluride are just some of the many awards shows that are launched around this time and these actually signal the start of the awards seasons. These fests start the marathon of screenings, interviews and appearances of celebrities.
