Kate Moss in gold
The figure of Kate Moss is now immortalized in a golden sculpture. The famous sculpture of Kate Moss is the work of artist Marc Quinn. Based on reports his creation is said to be the largest statue that is made from gold since the time of Ancient Egypt. Well thanks to the golden statue made by the artist, the model received a compliment that is often reserved for queens and kings during the early times. This is a great tribute to Kate Moss. She has been immortalized on bronze, been photographed all around the world, and right now her image is used as an inspiration for the sculpture made from gold. The new golden statue of the controversial model will be unveiled at the British museum in time for an exhibition that will be held in October.
The artist said that the concept for her sculpture will be the person of the ideal beauty as of the moment, and for him it’s Kate Moss. This statue of the model weighs around 50kg and will be displayed specifically at the Nereid Gallery of the British Museum and the sculpture of the model will be displayed alongside many other notable sculptures like that of the Crouching Venus and the Hellenistic model of Venus. The sculpture by the artist that shows the model in the yoga pose is part of the Statuephilia collection. This isn’t the first time that Marc Quinn has used Kate Moss as her muse for his works. He was also responsible for the Sphinx, and this was a white-painted bronze sculpture of the model.
The golden statue of the fashion icon is valued at around 1.5 million pounds and this cost is only related to the fabrication cost of the sculpture. The financing of the sculpture was shouldered by the artist and his gallery, the White Cube.
The exhibition is set to run from October 4 to January 25.
