Fred Durst directs ‘The Longshots’
Pay attention now since the front man from the hard-rocking Limp Bizkit band directed a heartwarming, family-oriented movie. Fred Durst directed ‘The Longshots’ to be released Friday. Fred Durst have nurtured the tough guy credibility may look he didn’t fit in a movie genre like this but he did with the release of the movie in theater. The movie stars Ice Cube and he is also the producer of the film. He personally picked Durst to direct the movie.
The partnership between Ice Cube and Fred Durst goes a long way. It was in 1998 when the two teamed up and headlined the ‘Family Values Tour’. The new movie talks about the story of the bookish Jasmine and her beer drinking uncle who find inner strength and purpose in her new talents as part of the high school football team.
Ice Cube isn’t a new kid in movie production. He found early success on his 1995 movie ‘Friday’. But for Durst, this is a new ground for him. This movie is his sophomore effort and his first venture in film directing was with the movie ‘The Education of Charlie Banks’. This movie was played at the 2007 Tribeca Film Festival. The movie opened in the festival to good reviews and scheduled for a theatrical release in October. It was thru this film that Ice Cube tried to get the services of Fred Durst.
It may seem like this is unlike the Fred Durst that people know, but the singer is ready to take on the new challenge. In fact the singer is now more comfortable to reveal his receding hairline and based on one interview, the singer wants to go beyond what he calls as the ‘rock star’ in him or the ‘Tyler Burden’ in him which is in reference to the alpha male in the movie ‘Fight Club’.
