Tribute to Heath Ledger on Dark Knight’s World Premiere
Monday, July 14, 2008, was the world premiere of “The Dark Knight” in New York City, which stars the late Heath Ledger. Wearing black and dark colored suits, the cast, which includes Michael Caine, Christian Bale, Morgan Freeman, and Gary Oldman, walked down the black carpet (replacing the traditional red carpet) honoring Ledger’s exceptional performance in the movie. His portrayal of the arch-villain Joker is said to have a strong running for an Oscar in February.

As Ledger’s co-stars pose for photographers outside the cinema, his family, including mom Sally and sister Kate, quietly sneaked inside the theater to avoid the star-studded red carpet. His father, Kim Ledger, was emotional has he walked inside to watch his son’s last film. It took the Ledgers six months to return to New York after the tragic dead of Heath on January 22 from accidental prescription drug overdose. Other friends who attended the premiere included actors Ethan Hawke and Jake Gyllenhaal—who stared with Ledger in the movie BrokebackMountain. After the screening, Kim Ledger simply gave a thumps-up in response to questions on how he felt about the film. Watch out for The Dark Knight on July 15 in
